April 01, 2014
Bharti Airtel plans to raise $2 billion through a series of bond issues in financial year 2014-15. The operator is likely to issue the first series of the bond in May or June 2014.
The operator plans to use the money raised through these bonds to refinance its debt which stood at $9.3 billion at the end of December 31, 2013, thereby reduce its net finance costs.
Earlier, in 2013-14, the operator had raised about $2.4 billion through three rounds of overseas bond issues.
